Our roots

We are rooted in the land at Hepple in the Northumbrian Moors, one of the most botanically vibrant environments in England, where we pick our green juniper and other wild aromatic plants that money cannot buy.

To capture the full flavours of our ingredients we use an innovative triple technique, combining copper pot distillation with advanced methods unique to Hepple Gin.

Juniper is our leading act, tasting brighter, richer and more compete than is possible with conventional distillation. We source our green juniper from the native plants at Hepple and are committed to growing more.

Our Technique

ONLY HEPPLE USES THREE TECHNIQUES TO CAPTURE THE FULL RANGE OF FLAVOUR FROM OUR INGREDIENTS BRINGING THEM AS ALIVE IN THE BOTTLE AS THEY WERE ON THE HILLS. 

 

TASTING NOTES

ON THE NOSE

There is an immediate fresh scent of green apple, bright grapefruit and spicy juniper. This then opens up to reveal underlying notes of Douglas Fir, and fragrant blackcurrant.

ON SIPPING

The initial fresh citrus flavours evolve into unexpected ripe cantaloupe melon, the spicy fragrant juniper continues to coat the palate. There is a luscious sweet mouthfeel, which is both juicy and quenching.

THE FINISH

Extremely long and this is where the juniper reveals itself further with flavours alternating between sandalwood and cedar with a notable savoury presence that complements the sweet blackcurrant and liquorice. The sweet juiciness is maintained throughout the finish.

Our Team

Hepple Gin is the result of a unique collaboration between chef, Valentine Warner; world-renowned barman, Nick Strangeway; drinks developer, Cairbry Hill; countryman, Walter Riddell; and distiller, Chris Garden. Only by pooling their rather unconventional expertise from juniper seed propagation through to the science of distilling and taste could the founders have created this unique gin.

HEPPLE the ultimate COCKTAIL gin

Hepple Gin Martini

  • 60ml Hepple Gin
  • 6ml Dry Vermouth

Fill your cocktail glass with ice and water and put to one side.
Fill a large mixing glass with ice, pour in your ingredients, stir until the glass begins to frost (around 30 stirs)
Tip away ice and water from your glass and strain in the Martini.
Add a twist, and enjoy.
